Going Whitewater Rafting!!

On Monday, June 30 Blaine and I are going whitewater rafting in Kimberley!! I am so excited!! Here is a picture that I got off the companies web page.

The trip that we are going on is called the St Mary's Express and it is with the Kimberley Raft Co. They have a bunch of different trips that you can do. This is the write up that they had for the trip we are doing:

We call this trip our 'Intro to Sportrafting', because it's more exciting than a float, but not quite the 'White Knuckle' experience that may have you nervous about whitewater rafting. The Express is a half day trip, and is by far our most popular because just about anyone can try it.

The first half of the trip is beautiful and relaxing as you get used to the raft and paddle commands in swift moving class 1 and 2 water. Once you get the hang of it, about half way down, the river constricts to create more class 2 and 3 rapids, such as the 'Chute', 'Pinball' and the 'S-bends'. Here we have a chance to hop out and "body surf" a rapid; quite the rush for the thrill seeker! There are also lots of lazy river stretches where hopping in to cool off is the name of the game on a hot summer's day!

Our New Air Conditioner!!

Thank goodness we finally got an air conditioner!! This weekend is set to be a scorcher for us down here. Today is hot at 32 degrees and tomorrow is going to be 34! I am already loving our cool new A/C. It was so easy to set up and you don't have to drain it at all except at the end of the season before you store it. It came with a window attachment that you slide in the side of your window and the hose fits into it so there isn't any opening that isn't covered.

You set the temperature that you want it to be in your place. It has different fan speeds, different modes: A/C or just a fan. It has a timer so you can set it to come on at a certain time and go off at a certain time. It has a sleep mode for at night time. It even has a remote control!!
You just attach the hose to that window attachment and it's ready to go!

Sam Steele Days Parade

Well, it is Sam Steele Days in Cranbrook (June 19 - 22) and there is lots of stuff going on here over the 4 days. We spent the day, today, outside enjoying all the events. Blaine was shooting everything for work and I was just hanging out. It was hot too (28 degrees)!! This morning was the parade. It was a huge parade and I took a few pictures. Here they are...

Gone Golfing!

Blaine and I have started golfing quite a bit since we moved down to Cranbrook. It's definitely golf country here in the Kootenays. There are tons of courses around here. We have been having lots of fun with this hobby of ours!!

Spokane, Washington

Blaine and I decided to take a little road trip down to Spokane, Washinton. We left this morning and returned home this evening. It was just a day trip but it only takes 3 hours each way so it's not too bad. This was my first time going into the USA. We went down through Idaho and crossed the state line between Coeur D'Alene and Spokane. It was fun! Here are some pictures of us at the Spokane Falls. These falls are right in the heart of downtown Spokane.

Yahk And Back!!

Today Blaine and I went to Yahk! Blaine is doing a summer story about the Yahk Soap Company and Two Scoop Steve, and I went along for the trip. We had such a fun day. This is a really cool place! They make a lot of different products using goat milk and they have a really nice little store. They also have the ice cream shop next door. They have 32 different flavours and make fresh homemade waffle cones. They were delicious! Some of the ice cream names were pretty funny. We got a waffle cone with Beaver Butt ice cream!

This is the ice cream shop. They had to shut the windows because a crazy thunder and lightning storm broke out while we were there. It pored and hailed.

On our way back to Cranbrook. It was still raining but not as hard. It looked cool. There was a bit of a fogginess from the storm.

Before we left the owners gave us a bunch of stuff. They were really nice people. They gave us this shower gel.
They also gave us these three soaps.
And they gave us each a t-shirt. The top one is Blaine's and the bottom one is mine.
What a nice day we had in Yahk!
