-54

Okay, this is much too cold. This morning it was colder here than it was in the North Pole! It was -54 with the wind chill. Blaine's car battery is dead. It wouldn't start after trying to jump it using 3 different vehicles. We ended up having to go buy a new battery. He is going to put it in tomorrow. We still have to endure this for the rest of the week, and then it's supposed to get a bit warmer.

-25 (feels like -40)

Wind chill warning for: City of Edmonton-St. Albert-Sherwood Park
Issued at 3:33 PM MST SUNDAY 27 JANUARY 2008

AN ARCTIC AIR MASS HAS SETTLED OVER NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ALBERTA. THE VERY COLD TEMPERATURES COMBINED WITH A BRISK NORTHERLY WIND WILL PRODUCE EXTREME WIND CHILL VALUES BELOW MINUS 40 TONIGHT INTO MONDAY MORNING. HIGH RISK OF FROSTBITE. EXPOSED SKIN CAN FREEZE IN 5 TO 10 MINUTES OR SOONER DEPENDING ON WIND SPEED.

That's our extreme weather! That weather warning was issued today. Tonight is is supposed to be -29 and -41 with the wind chill. Brrrrrrrr!!!! Yesterday it was warm. It was around -2 when I left work at 4PM yesterday and it was warm in the evening too. This morning I left for work at 6:50AM and there was fresh snow on the ground, windy and the cold was bone chilling. It's too cold and it's forecast to be like this all week. It is supposed to warm up on Saturday to -12.
By the looks of it it's windy and cold all over B.C. and Alberta.

My Plant - doing so good!

I love this plant. I have had it for about 3 years. Blaine's Grandma gave it to me when it was just a small little plant. I always thought it kind of looked like a strawberry plant but I don't know what it actually is. It has grown so much especially in the past 6 or 7 months, and about a month ago it actually started flowering. I was so surprised because I didn't even know that it is a flowering plant. I took these pictures about a week or 2 ago, when there was 2 stems with flowers and now there is 4 stems with flowers.

Anyway I was telling my Mom about this so here are the pictures:
The lighting isn't the greatest because I took these pics at night, so no natural light.

These ones have the natural light so they look nicer.

The unnatural light again.

New Years

Here are some pictures of our New Years. We went downtown to the celebration. It was really cold but there was a big bonfire which was nice. We got to watch some great live entertainment all night too.

Mexico!!

We're going to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! I have wanted to go for so long and a couple weeks ago I just decided that we should finally do it. I told Blaine about my idea and he was on board. So right away I started searching for a great vacation package. We got a great web page from a friend that has tons of reviews, by travellers, for all the different resorts wherever you want to go. I found this very helpful in my search because you get to hear what many people have to say about their experience at the resort you are looking at. I spent many, many hours looking at different packages and reading reviews.

So after a couple days I found a great all inclusive vacation for us, and we booked the time off work. I booked the vacation a few days ago!!! So it is all finalized and we are going April 5th and coming back on the 13th. I am so excited!! First stamps on our passports!

Bright Nights

On December 22 we went to Bright Nights (Edmonton's Winter Family Festival at Hawrelak Park) It's Canada’s Largest Christmas Festival of Lights. There are over 500 light displays! Here are just a few pictures, from that night, of the many displays. It was hard to get good steady pictures because I was taking the pictures from the car, so they are a little blurry!
