Still HOT!!!

It's still smokin' hot here in Edmonton!! Last night at 11:30 it was 27 degrees. Pretty hot for that time of night. It was 32 today but with 65% humidity the "feels like" temp was 37. That's how it was yesterday too. We haven't really had a break in the heat since the first week in July... almost a month ago now. Well we had one cooler day - my birthday - it was 25 degrees. There are also our routine storms at night quite often too. There's a tornado watch tonight for just south of the city and last night the thunder was unbelievably loud!!!

Things are good here though. We are both working and trying to find time to do things together when we can. We are going to try to go to the Simpsons movie tonight if it isn't too busy to get in!! I think it will be a good time!!

My Birthday

It was my birthday on Tuesday! I had Tuesday and Wednesday off work. The the day before my birthday, Blaine had 14 roses and a DQ Blizzard cake at waiting for me at home when I got home from work. I was surprised! It was very nice. That night my Dad phoned and we talked and he told me that he was going to drive out and visit us on my birthday.

So on Tuesday we got up in the morning and Blaine gave me my present: there's a pictures below. Then we had lunch and hung out until Blaine had to go to work at 3:00. Dad arrived at around 9:00 in the evening and we ended up being up until 3AM. The next day we went out for breakfast and then headed out to West Edmonton Mall to shop. Then later we had a delicious supper at Red Lobster. It was sooooo good. Then we just hung out and talked and stuff until around midnight. I had to get to bed then because I had to work at 9 the next morning. We were all pretty tired anyway... It was a nice day.

My roses from Blaine! Beautiful.

Blaine got me a really nice watch for my birthday. This is me opening it.

Gifts from Blaine: A Watch, The Finger Eleven CD, Sex and the City Season One

My yummy Blizzard Cake!
It was great to see Lily again too!

Finger Eleven @ Ed Fest

We had planned to go to Ed Fest @ Capital Ex on Thursday to see Tom Cochrane and Red Rider but Blaine didn't want to go that night so we went on Friday instead and saw Finger Eleven. It was a really great show. It was cool to be at an outdoor show and it was such a warm night. Capital Ex was packed with people. This is an enormous fair, and the amount of people there was amazing. It was really cool. It goes until July 28th so hopefully I will be able to go back again but Blaine works afternoon shift all week so we will see. There is a concert every night for only $10.00 which is the gate admission. Next Friday is Matt Mays which I really want to go to. I took a bunch of pictures at the show...here are some of them...

As we were leaving the grounds, there was fireworks. It was really awesome! The walk through the grounds to leave took a while because it is such a large area and there were so many people so for the whole walk we go to watch fireworks.

Here is the Finger Eleven video for Paralyzer...

Hoping for good weather

Tomorrow the Capital Ex begins! We are hoping to go down to to the grounds to see Tom Cochrane with Red Rider in the evening, however our forecast is for a thunderstorm tomorrow evening. The exhibition goes through until July 28th so there will be other things we can go to. There are concerts every night, the only thing is that Blaine is on afternoon shift all next week so that makes it a little difficult to go.

In other news, I am going to drive out to Athabasca on Saturday after work. It will be a very quick trip but my good friend Lisa is going to be there for the night. It's about an hours drive from Edmonton. I get off at 5 and have to work Sunday morning so I will only get to visit for a couple hours but it will be so nice to see her.

Joel

I was looking at my pictures on my computer today and saw this beautiful picture of my nephew Joel. I forget where I got it. I think I copied it off of Charlenes blog or facebook a while ago. I just thought I would post it because I think it is such a nice picture. He is such a beautiful little boy. I love him, and all my other nephews and my beautiful niece.

Georges Laraque

One day last week when I was leaving work I got in my car and was driving through the parking lot. I stopped before turning to leave the parking lot and when I turned my head to look for cars coming, I recognized this man standing beside his car waiting for his wife. It took me a minute... but it was Georges Laraque. He is a former Oiler who still lives in Edmonton but now plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins. That was pretty cool!

There he is when we was playing in Phoenix.

Just A Little Update

Well, not much is new these days. I am feeling very tired from the heat. It's 35 degrees in the apartment right now at 11:30PM. We got a big fan a couple days ago but what we really need is an air conditioner!!! Last night the overnight low only got down to 21 degrees, so not very cool.

We got new uniforms at work today. I will post a picture of it soon but I need to get the pants hemmed. I am off work on Monday so I will be getting the hemming done then. It's pretty nice and I like it. It's really nice that I get more that one. I get 3 shirts, 3 pants, 2 sweaters, 2 hats, 2 aprons, and a matching scrunchie for my hair. I also got a Seagull Pewter key chain. It's pretty nice.

10 days until my birthday!!

Everything else is good here!

Sweating it out

It's HOT! Well it is my day off and I am sitting here sweating. It was already 28 degrees this morning at about 11:00AM. It's 30 degrees now at 2:30 but 33 with the humidex. We are forecast to have 8 straight days of above 30 degree temperatures. Saturday is supposed to be 32 and 37 with the humidex. That is hot. I am glad to work in a grocery store right now because it is air conditioned. We still have some heat in the department because of the ovens and stuff but it's nothing like being in a restaurant kitchen in the summer! That is unbearable!

Dinner And A Movie!

On Saturday we had our date. It was nice...we went out for supper at Olive Garden and then we had planned to go see Transformers at the Cineplex Odeon. However, when we got to the theatre, Transformers was sold out for hours and it was crazy busy!! We still wanted to see a movie though, so we went to Knocked Up instead. It was really funny. It was nice to spend some time together after not seeing much of each other for a couple weeks!

A Hot Day Off

I have the day off work today. It feels like it's been so long since I had a day off. It's only been 7 days which is nothing compared to what I used to do!! I guess I'm out of the routine of it. I normally won't have to work more than 5 or 6 days in a row though, so that's good.

Well it is hot!!! Today it was 32 degrees. I am sitting here and it is about 33 degrees in the apartment. It will be hard to sleep tonight! Blaine is at work tonight. He has mostly been working the afternoon shift (3-11) lately. I mostly always work 9-5 so we haven't been seeing each other very much lately.

We both have Saturday off and we are going to have a dinner date at Olive Garden. I can't wait. We don't get many chances to do stuff together lately, so it will be nice! It will be nice hanging out for the day too.
