Wailua Falls
This 80 foot waterfall is one of the islands most easily accessible and most beautiful. It was made famous when it was featured in the opening scene of the popular 1970's/1980's TV show, Fantasy Island. It is very beautiful.
Me getting ready to go. Having a coffee and getting our stuff out of the safe.

Chickens and Roosters!
When you arrive in Kauai, one thing you notice right away is that there are chickens and roosters everywhere! It is kind of funny. They are just walking around all over the place! Every morning the roosters woke me up just before 6am which was fine because that was around the time I was getting up anyway!! These were just taken at the Walmart parking lot.

Kilauea Lighthouse And National Wildlife Refuge
We drove out to the north shore to see the Kilauea Lighthouse. It was so beautiful. Just before we got there we saw this tree and I had to stop right on the road to take a picture because it is so amazingly beautiful!! Look at the colour!!
This lighthouse (Kilauea Lighthouse) is perched at the northernmost tip of Kauai. It is 52 feet high, and was built in 1913 as a beacon for traveling ships. It's light was turned off in the 1970's and was replaced by an automatic beacon but it is still one of the island's most frequented attractions.
I just can't get over how beautiful the ocean was. The deep blue Pacific and the rugged coastline here was just breathtaking!
This is also the location of Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and sanctuary for seabirds. Blaine and I walked through the Wildlife Refuge and there were signs throughout the trail identifying the area's bird species. It was pretty cool! There were so many birds there!!
Here are some pictures of our time there...
