Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone had an excellent holiday. Ours was great. It was just Blaine and I which we are used to! I managed to find a pretty small turkey! It was just 8.5 pounds. I was busy working on dinner for most of the day and it was so good! Here are some pictures of our delicious dinner!

It's Our First Cold October Day...
It's 9 degrees today and lightly raining off and on... It's October 5th and it felt like fall is here today. September was like an extended summer for us in the Kootenays! It was great, but now I am ready for fall. I came home from work today and put on a hoodie and jeans and made myself a peppermint tea. For the first time in a long time, it wasn't too hot to do that! I have thoroughly enjoyed our lovely summer but I am ready for the blanket of fall/winter and the changes that come along with the changes of the season.
In September Blaine and I did the Paws for a Cause walk and we raised $300!! That was great!
Basically all spring and summer Blaine and I worked hard! I am a bit sad to say that the steady, scheduled work that I have had since May is coming to an end on October 14th. I will be going back to no schedule and waiting to be called in. I am not really happy about this but am not too worried because I have been able to gain a fair bit of seniority during the past few months. I can't believe it has been 1 year on October 20th since I started working for Interior Health.
Well, there are a few more pending things that are happening in our lives that will have to wait until the next post!! I think that now that the busy summer is over, I will have time to Blog a bit more!!

What's New!
Well, it has been a while since my last post! Blaine and I have been quite busy. I have been working a lot lately. May was a good month with lots of shifts for me. We launched a new computer system at work so extra help was needed! I was also able to cover 2 weeks of holidays for someone in May. I've got a lot of work lined up for June also as I am covering another co worker's vacation.
I have decided to fund raise for the SPCA this year. This September, I will be participating in the BC SPCA Paws for a Cause event to raise funds for the care and protection of animals in our community. If you can, please support me by making a donation. I would greatly appreciate it. Just click on the link below to go to my personal fundraising page. If you would prefer to send a cheque, please make cheques payable to the BC SPCA and send them to me.

We had Blaine's parents here for a visit a couple weeks ago, which was really nice.
Blaine has been working on his course and doing well.
My flower bed in the backyard is doing great! Everything is growing daily! The only thing that I am not happy with is my rose bush. It didn't come back this spring. It didn't survive the winter. I was very sad to come to that conclusion... This weekend I am going to plant my flower pots for the front steps!! The front flower bed is doing well also. I added a new double lily to it this spring.
I have been taking Lacey out for our walks whenever I am not working. She is loving them as usual! I really enjoy them too. The creek is very high right now and every day that we are out for a walk it seems like it is higher. Hopefully flooding won't be to bad.
I did end up getting the Kitchen Aid mixer that I wanted! I got it last month and I have been enjoying it very much! I plan to make a cheesecake today since I am off work for a couple days now. My Mom gave me a cream cheese cookbook at Christmas and I have made one cheesecake from it so far and it was delicious! I can't wait to try another recipe!
Well, I think that's about it for now. I am cleaning my house, giving Lacey a bath, and making cheesecake today!! But first, right now, Lacey and I are about to leave for a nice walk!! She will be so excited when I tell her!!

Kitchen Aid Mixer
So ever since I made my cheesecake and my mix master died, I have been dreaming of getting a Kitchen Aid Mixer. This is what I am saving up for now! I can't wait to get it! It will probably be quite a while before I get the money together for it, but I am getting really excited!! I think I want the red one but I am still deciding between the red, metallic silver, or pink!

Classic Cheesecake
For Christmas my Mom got me a cheesecake/cream cheese cookbook and a set of springform pans. I have wanted springform pans for a long time so I could make cheesecake! Yesterday I decided to try one of the recipes in the cookbook. I made classic cheesecake, and it turned out perfect! It is delicious! I got a bag of frozen strawberries to go with it and it tastes amazing. I am very impressed!
While I was making it, my mixer finally died. I have been expecting it to go for a while now and it finally did... I really want a Kitchen Aid Mixer... maybe one day.
Here are some pictures of the awesome cheesecake!!

Waimea Canyon
Waimea is the largest canyon in the pacific. The canyon measures 10 miles long, 1 mile wide, 3500 feet deep. It was carved thousands of years ago by rivers and floods that flowed from Mount Waialeale's summit. The lines in the canyon walls depict different volcanic eruptions and lava flows that have occurred over the centuries. Numerous lookouts and hikes offer terrific views of every aspect of this natural wonder.
Blaine and I spent one day at the canyon. We drove up the canyon road and stopped at each of the many lookouts, hiking into each of them. It was amazing and so beautiful. We had a wonderful and truly unforgettable day.
