Yahk And Back!!

Today Blaine and I went to Yahk! Blaine is doing a summer story about the Yahk Soap Company and Two Scoop Steve, and I went along for the trip. We had such a fun day. This is a really cool place! They make a lot of different products using goat milk and they have a really nice little store. They also have the ice cream shop next door. They have 32 different flavours and make fresh homemade waffle cones. They were delicious! Some of the ice cream names were pretty funny. We got a waffle cone with Beaver Butt ice cream!

This is the ice cream shop. They had to shut the windows because a crazy thunder and lightning storm broke out while we were there. It pored and hailed.

On our way back to Cranbrook. It was still raining but not as hard. It looked cool. There was a bit of a fogginess from the storm.

Before we left the owners gave us a bunch of stuff. They were really nice people. They gave us this shower gel.
They also gave us these three soaps.
And they gave us each a t-shirt. The top one is Blaine's and the bottom one is mine.
What a nice day we had in Yahk!

The Canadian Museum of Rail Travel

Blaine and I went to the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel this afternoon. Bliane was doing a story for work and I wanted to see the museum so I went with him. We went on a deluxe tour off all the rail cars. They are displayed to illustrate the glory days of North American rail travel. They call them 'hotels on wheels'. The museum opened in 1978 and they have been gathering pieces and restoring the interior of the rail cars since 1976. They are not finished the restoration. There is still a lot to be done. It takes so long because they are so careful to make it look exactly as it did.

There were 3 separate trains on separate tracks and each train had numerous rail cars. There was the Trans Canada Limited from 1929 - River Rouge, the Soo - Spokane Deluxe from 1907 - Curzon, and the Business Car from 1928 - B.C. Here are a bunch of pictures from the tour. It was amazing to see.

They have done extensive restoration on these trains. It's unbelievable!

Royal Alexandra Hall. Just beautiful! This is actually available to rent. It is all restored.

This was beautiful. The stained glass was so pretty and the car was so elegant looking.

Luc Bourdon 1987-2008

On May 29th Vancouver Canucks defenceman Luc Bourdon died suddenly in a motorcycle accident outside of his hometown of Shippagan, NB. Bourdon was driving his motorcyle that collided with a transport truck. Heavy winds at the time of the accident may have played a role in the crash. Bourdon had gotten his motorcycle licence only two weeks earlier, and had bought his motorcycle just two days prior. He was 21.
